"Kunstschitterbiig"

A three-year long series (1990-1993) I did of paintings that were also plans, and the realized installations from them, based on the amazing, traditional, meticulous Swiss stacks of split wood logs, called in Swissgerman "Schitterbiig" (plural 'Schitterbiige.')

I added 'Kunst,' "art," to the term. I was interested in the idea of paintings that were artworks in themselves, yet also potential plans for installations, as well as the metonymic / synecdochal implications of the wood piles.

Exhibitions in Switzerland, Rochester, New York, and more.
